I will play the teacher's advocate. The primary role of the club president is to plan meetings, conduct effective meetings, and arrange speakers. Similarly, the club vice president acts in the place of the president when the president is absent from the planned meetings. In your case, your daughter and her vice president were both absent from the planned meeting. In the first place, the president, your daughter, should have requested if the meeting can be rescheduled because neither the president nor the vice-president could not attend, not simply informing the teacher that they could not attend. It is even worse if the president mentioned it verbally, instead of in writing. The teacher could have been preoccupied with others. Consider that the meeting was scheduled at the of the school year, the primary agenda is mostly likely ceremonerial, congratulating the current officers, iintroducingnew officers, planning for next year. Would you not be upset if both the president and the vice-president of the new class were absent from the meeting? It totally wasted everyone's time. NHS presidence demands a serious committment. Your daughter should have made attending the meeting the first priority at the time.
The teacher has every right to be upset.
