In a need blind college, the admission office reviews your application first, once you are admitted, your application is forwarded to the Finacial Aid office to calculate your aid package if you indicate that need aid. If you are not admitted, there is no reason to review your financial aid application. The admission office does not pore through 30,000 applications looking for financial detail. Instead, they review them for admissions first, then look into the financial information of the admitted, roughly 2300. If you are of the 2300, it is up to you to decide if you want to accept the aid package. There are many reasons for being rejected, being born to a poor working family is most likely not one of them.
