Every incident is experience for a child

We should never teach our children to fight back physically. You are right to separate them. But we also need to give our children time to calm down and allow them to cry. When my children were young, I asked them to run to parents or any caregivers on scene. I always asked them to describe what happened. And also let them tell me what to do next time.
