My son was never back for Thanksgiving

Treat them nicely. and discussed the issues when they are back during the winter break.

If they are not happy this time, they might not come back during the winter break.

My experience with my son is that children do whatever they want to do with their lives.  Your preach will not help.  Everything has to come from within.
