I have to say that this has nothing special

Comparing to other Asian kids. He competed in math tournaments but no mention of any awards. No real non-academic ECs, especially no sports. Even the academics that he is good at, his SAT is 2230, hardly top notch. And, he is ranked 2nd in class. Though 2nd in GPA is impressive but why not the first? All said, he is a victim of race but he is NOT very brilliant at all.
