The chart below shows how the U.S. economy is becoming weaker and weaker in its ability to recover from a recession. Elderly people sometimes get pneumonia and recover, get pneumonia again and recover, and then they finally get it again and they don’t recover. The U.S. economy may ultimately recover from the current recession--though I wouldn’t bet on it.
