My D had been in daycare since 6 weeks old; so she is very independent and good at making friends. There are not many asian inour area. So there was an asian girl joined the school after years of staying at home. She became very attached with my D. She is a very sweet girl but easy to get hurt (feeling); so I worked with her mom and tried to have activities with bother girls and several other girls. It took a while to wait for this little girl to "grow up". Now she is still my D's good friend but she also has her circle. Just be sensitive and patient; it takes time; get her parents involved.
