I think you are right in most instances, generally speaking.
If a medical student wants to become a professor, and do better scientific research, or if a medical student wants to do public health (officer) after graduation, he/she better go to best medical schools, although he/she would make much less money after graduation compared to specialists. It is dependent on the objective.
