My son wants to add an AP test for a self-studied subject. He wants to take a late test because it conflicts with a school-taught AP subject. The counselor is not happy. She wonders why my son cannot take it the next year (my son is a junior). My son said he wants improve his chances for college application. The following is the counselor's reply:
My counseling colleague just reminded me that the colleges do not even see the test scores until a student arrives at college - hence taking the test has no bearing on the entrance decisions by the colleges. He can not say he took the course because he only took the course here.
Could someone here tell me if she is right? Thanks!
