With a decline of 3% today, shares of Apple (AAPL) are currently down 30.4% from their all-time closing high of $702.10 on 9/19.  The chart below shows the ten declines of 20% or more that AAPL has experienced over the last ten years.    It may be hard to believe, but based on the last ten years of trading, the current decline is just about average.

While this decline is only just now exceeding its average in terms of price, in terms of duration, it is already well above average.  Prior to the current decline, the average 20%+ pullback in AAPL lasted 81 calendar days.  At a length of 118 days, the current pullback has lasted nearly 50% longer than average and ranks as the third longest of the last ten years.
