a lot of chinese docs work in china town, but how many chinese fmg practicing in us and how many china town in us? where are the rest go?
4 years in medical school, students mainly learn medical knowledge, not much of real practice skill. that is why u have to do 3-5 years of resident to gain practice skill in one particular field. fellowship is after residency if u want to do sepcialty that is another 2-3 years. when i was intern, routinly work 100-120 a wk, that was brutal.
when u finish all the training and start practice ur own, how much hours you want to work is up to you b/c ur ur own boss, but as a small business owner you have fixed expense (overhead), ur income is after u pay ur overhead. for example if u bring 500k a year and your overhead is 200k, u make 300k that year, but next year u want work less, relex more, you bring 300k total, then you only make 100k a year, b/c ur overhead is fixed. that's why most doc or at lest surgeons i know work very hard 12-16 hours a day, and they are on call for their own pt 24 /7 too. im talking about us doc, not just chinese doc, i dont know why u single out chinese doc work 60 hours a wk, which is really not that much among doctors.
