in a wrong way. I agree with your comments on high SAT score. But on the other hand, we have to recongize that if all children are equally evaluated about their SAT, our asian children donot need to worry too much about SAT, as the average score is low and many of our children can reach it. For example, if they consider SAT=2200 is good enough, then it is not considered too much any more, our children will certainly have more time to develop other things. The problem here is that asian children are unfairly grouped together, and they have to compete with other asian children. SAT score is still a major factor for consideration. Our children will then have to study more to get high SAT score. Trust me, most parents here are all smart enough to know high SAT score does not mean too much for one's capability. But under this selection process, unless one child is super strong in area (sports, chess, music, etc), having a high SAT score is essential for most kids here. I do not like it, but i do not see any other way out.
