Most of Yamaha’s furniture style consoles were made in US, from mid 70s to mid 80s in South Haven, MI, later in Thomaston, GA, then in recent years, in China. However, according to the serial number, the piano was made in 1977 and in Japan. There was a console model from Japan then. The model number was P2, and in continental style. It was a very well made and pricey for the size, but better than the models made in US, in my opinion.
Most of the earlier console models are 43 inch tall. Later, made in Thomaston, GA, they became 44 inch, the models are 450, 500s, and 600s.
Be aware that many sellers do not know piano well, and give out inaccurate info. You need to verify everything yourself. And if I were you, I would go to PianoWorld.com. Here, too many “experts” who give out misleading advises.
