that article is very very misleading. Probably your child does not play chess. My child plays chess, and I knew chess pretty good. I have no problem of his showing off; his daughter is on top and he is very sucessful. However, the way he wrote let you think playing chess will let a child getting extra advantage to get into ivy league. That is veyr misleading. Of course people may have different opinion on the same article. I believe at least 3-4 people here knowing chess feel that article is misleading.
I do not know y you r defending for him. If you do not know chess or your child is not playing chess, I think you should know that you are talking something that you do not know. Then tone down yourself.
