If the data on the hard drive is very important to you, then

a new hard drive is a better choice. Otherwise it doesn't make sense to waste extra money on a bigger IDE hard drive because the motherboard must be very old (at least 6-7 years old, I guess).

You can buy a hard drive enclosure (IDE to USB), put your IDE hard drive in it and use it as an external hard drive with any PC.
