My daughter plays both piano and violin. Here are my 2 cents:

1. He has no problem learning violin
2. It is even better since he can read notes.
3. The earlier the better - easy to cheer him up;) Once he is in teenage both u and ur son,life will be tough.
4. Use half of game time to practice violin is ggod enough.
