Depends on how you rented the house in the first place. If it is monthly from 1st to 1st, then you are right landlord is wrong. Paying rent on the 15th may be just for your own convenience. Normally for monthly lease, rent is paid at the begining of the leasing period. In that case, your lease starts on the 15th of each month and your notice does not take effect until the 15th, which constitutes a 60 day notice till Dec. 15th. According to the lease, you can refuse entry by the landlord until after Oct. 15th.
