11:57 AM ET - Stocks climbed in midday trade Monday, but volume remained quiet. The Nasdaq was up 0.8%, the NYSE composite 0.6% and the S&P 500 0.5%. Volume was well below Friday's pace, suggesting that institutional investors were on the sidelines.
