waiting list is to control yield

There are many very good students put on WL. If a school needs to open WL, they could talk to the student and make sure he/she will be coming before they give the offer. So, the yield of those getting off WL is nearly 100%.

Also, a lot of parents here still have the old mind set. As if an WL offer were a favor from school therefore would not negotiate on the FA.
