We didn't choose medication either. However everything has a trade off. In our case, those years of being a promblematic student made both the kid and parents suffer tremendously mentally. Also these kids are special. They won't out grow a lot of the problems. I don't expect my son to out grow some of his problems any more after so many years of useless "education" - that's the way he is - all we can do is to accept him as who he is.
