is more like the shanghai fire? then we can talk. i do agree that no two fires are exactly the same.
with regards to WTC, i have 2 points to make:
1. the towers did NOT collapse right away, and when they did (about an hour and a half for the north tower and about an hour for the south), they did so not because of impact damage but because of the FIRE. if the fire could have been put out or suppressed (and i'm not saying that it could), the buildings themselves and people who were trapped would have been saved.
2. the shanghai fire department did have equipment that reach up to 30-something floors, but not higher. you would've seen those, if you watched the news clips. fighting high-rise fires from within the building is common practice. again, in the case of the WTC, the vast majority of those that survived escaped by running down the stairwell; and the firefighters who died were in the building fighting the fire and saving people. i personally do not know of any WTC survivor who were rescued by fire engine ladder units. i would appreciate it if you can prove me wrong by showing cases of people being rescued by ladder units.
