I have contacted a few makers, including Yamaha, Kawai and Schimmel. All of them were very responsive, and eager to help. With Kawai and Schimmel, I was checking some info on their pianos. Both of them gave the dates and the dealers of those particular unites. One of them even gave me the name of the original owner. I thought that was a little too much privacy. One friend of mine contacted Bluthner for a used concert grand. They even offered him the remainder of the warranty transfer under his name. With Bluthner, normally, the warranty only applies to the first owner.
