回复:Yale EA deferred and a question about essay - Don't be Disapp
In 2009, Yale took significant fewer EA students (about 13%?), put many fewer in deferred category but many more in rejection category. I haven't seen the numbers of deferred or rejected, but I believe Yale is continuing the trend. Yale has a 5% drop in EA application. But I believe it may take even fewer EA students. In other words, deferred students have a better chance to be accepted during RD. Think about the odds of being accepted by EA: Yale may take 700 EA applicants from over 5000 ones. Of these 700, probably half of legacies, sports recruit, etc. The rest of them are super stars with bright shining points. If the candidates are strong enough and better than RD applicant, they have the same chance to be accepted. It was about 5% last year. So, don't be disappointed, she has a good shot during RD. You still can send additional awards, AP test results to the college. But put more attention to other applications. Good luck.
