China approves homegrown swine flu vaccine

BEIJING: China's State Food and Drug Administration on Thursday granted approval to a homegrown swine flu vaccine, which producer Sinovac says is effective after only one dose.

"The SFDA has approved Beijing Sinovac's A(H1N1) flu vaccine application for registration," the regulatory agency said in a brief statement ahead of a news conference.

"The completion of trials for Beijing Sinovac's vaccine has shown this vaccine to be very safe."
