There are before and after school care programs. School bus will send kids to the after school care sites. There are also after school care on site right in the school building. Our school also provides enrichment classes after school, for example, violin, dance, choir, chess, arts, Spanish, etc. So kids are not just randomly playing. Starting from middle school when kids can stay home alone, our school district has two school bus services in the afternoon - one to bring kids home if they don't have after school activity, a later one to send those home after they finish extracurricular activity.

Most of the commercial enrichment programs we send our kids to have schedules for working parents (after 6:00pm starting time). So we never have issues of not being able to keep work/life balance.
