About Tibet - the view from an american woman

After participating the torch relay in San Francisco, we were all very excited.

My son has an Engllish class this evening. He told his teacher that he went to San Francisco for Olympic Torch Relay activity.

To his very suprise, his teacher, an old american lady (50+?) told him that
Tibet was a country, and had never been part of china before. About 50 yrars ago, China ocupied Tibet. ... China is a very poor country.

My son did not agree with her since what the teacher said is different from what he learned from us. But he did not continue the topic with his
teacher.

I want to talk to that teacher later if I have a chance.
