I just do not care... my strategy toward new games:

1) first of all, I am enjoying BF2 and there are still enough people playing it and thus I do not worry about finding a substitute. so I can afford:
2) when BF3 comes out, wait 6 months to 1 year, read extensive reviews, if it is good, jump in and play, it won't be too late, not at all. If it is no good, fine, I still enjoy my bf2.
3) for any other new games, I treat them like this. This strategy does not save money, good games remain the same price even after 1 year. But it saves a lot of precious time. These days, if you try out every new game, you will get burned.
