I have read several articles about the add-ons at Edmunds.com. Edmunds is always on the buyer's side and they know all the car dealers' tricks too well.
I remember one article says, the pricy add-ons are where they make a lot of money if the car is sold cheap. I've been to Honda dealer recently, I saw these stripes, logo stuff were priced for hundreds and even thousands over the MSRP. It leaves a whole lot room for dealer to negotiate with you.
The article recommends buyer to ask for a car without these add-ons or no buy.
There are a lot of strategies to deal with a car dealer on Edmunds.com. If you haven't done so, I suggest you research your car there first and know the TMV(True Market Value) before you head to a dealer.
Good luck!
