I never pushed my child academically. He is in first grade and he will get into gifted-children program next year (I am pretty sure). I never said anything about that program to him. I just want him enjoy what he is doing. He doesn't have to be #1; however he needs to try his best. He plays all types of sports although he is not good at them; he plays piano that he is really good; he goes to Chinese school on weekend. He does these things because he wants to. He told me that playing piano and learning Chinese are fun.
I do care about my kids' emotional development and social abilities. These soft skills are more important than A's. The bottom line is my son is happy.
