IPOD + phone might be there if he think he has meet his target on the high end market(kill Rimm), and ready to challenge MOT and Noki. Steve obviously did NOT want do IPOD + phone very soon because he would done it over a year ago if he wanted: there is no technology barrier for it. He did not do it for a reason.
