1. Be specific on everything, don't take assumptions. Their assumptions are very different from yours.

2. They always underestimate the workload at the beginning. Sometimes, they don't mean to cheat you. Instead, they don't know the difficulties.

3. Set up some gates or milestones, and check frequently. They don't communicate problems during the project, instead, they try to hide them and they think they can catch up later. Until the deadline comes...

After all, managing a s/w team in China is not easy.
