After the transcript, colleges look at test scores. At a school like Dartmouth and Columbia, the average verbal score is about 730, the average math 735. That’s typical at all the top schools although Cornell and Brown can be a bit lower, Harvard, Yale, Princeton a bit higher. Clearly in order to get into this top category of schools, you simply MUST have strong test scores. Typically on SAT II’s, most students aiming for top colleges earn over 740 on 3 SAT II tests.

Asian males are not in the best demographic as there are many super qualified Asians. So in effect, he HAS to be better than his peers or he won’t stand out in this super achieving group.
