Can kids from nonmedical family become a doctor?

Anyone has any experience of kids who has no medical family background become a doctor later? I have a 14 year old boy who doesn't want to be a doctor. He said he wants to be a lawyer but he is a shy boy. I don't think a lawyer's occupation will be suitable for him. I always want him to be a doctor. He is very kind and patient. The high school is going to have orientation for kids who want to be in the medical field. If I push him, do you think he might become interested in it and become a doctor later? Thanks.
