I am amazed and speechless when parents get paid to take care of grandchildren. Whoever grows up in that kind of family will be screwed. BTW, if the thread initiator wants to know whether she got a good deal or not, I know someone gave his mom $5,000 for taking care of his son for a year, when he was a postdoc earning 20K a year in early 90s. I think the thread initator is dirt cheap ($200?!)and her parents-in-law seem shameless (if their complaint is true). She even included something like dining out once a week?! The hu*****and should "Shiu" her! BTW, I am a daughter-in-law too.
