Condition of rental car shouldn't have much to do with insurance

coverage. If your rental car breaks down, it's the rental car company's responsibility to get you a replacement. However, in Alaska, if you car breaks down, you could be a long way (hundreds of miles) from your rental car office. You still end up getting stuck on the road. Another problem is many places you go do not have good cell phone signal, which makes it hard to call your rental car company.
