compare, we must see two countries with comparable military do battle to know what air tactics would be like? However, there isn't any such battles between two big countries saved the Korean War. Even in Korean War, US do send fighers and bombers to attack targets that are in enemy territory without land support. As I do recall, airplanes are used in SUPPORT of land operations, not the other way around.
