Dalai Lama is the leader of the Tibetan religion. And Tibetan politics and religion has been united for 1000 years now. In comparison, the main part of Mainland has only seen the unification of politics and religion for 55 years. Yes, the "Socialism/Communism" in Mainland is a religion, using even the same terminology like "We believe Communism" without a reason.
