You could put shift not on park.

It is not distributor, nor alternator, if it is you will hear the starter turning.

It is also could be your starter, some time the starter is going to be bad, when it is hot, the coil in the starter gets shorted out, it will not working. After starter gets cold, the insulation on the coil become good, so you can start again.
