You should be able to tell easily if the problem happens during the nights.

It might be flasher (it should be under the dashboard) problem as stp said. It could also be the switch problem. Fixing a switch is usually hard since you won't be able to find the replacement part(s). Since your car is kind of old, I would try junk yard first. You should be able to find the same car model, then remove the switch yourself. You should learn it a little before you go so that you carry the correct tools with you. If the switch is small, many times, they won't even charge you. I did it before, and it is not very hard for my car.
