How to: open the hood

This is a how to for those who don't know how to open the hood of your car.

1. Put key in key hole of door turn key till door lock comes up, if door is unlocked then skip this step.

2. Put hand under handle on door and pull up. If door was unlocked then you are already at this step.

3. Reach under left side of steering column and firmly grab handle at the bottom of the dash using your middle and index finger (this combination works best for this job).

4. Now pull towards you, it isn’t a push handle, if you push then maybe that’s why the hood will not open.

5. Pull handle listen and see hood pop up.

6. You’re almost there now walk back to the front of the car and reach your hand under the lip of the hood, feel for the handle.

7. Now pull up on the handle and lift the hood at the same time, don’t push too far, the hood will not go all the way.

8. Now on the driver’s side of the car, (if you are facing looking at the engine it will now be in your right). Lift the rod and insert it into the hood, there is a spot for it. (now, don’t forget to do this or it will hurt when it lands on you.

9. Now stand back and oh and aw on the fact that you can now open your hood.

10. Closing the hood is mostly the reverse order (except the handle under steering column). Unlatch handle that holds hood up.

11. Take hood and let it hall from a short distance in slamming the hood closed.

12. When done take that key you used in step one and relock the door.

13. Walk away and tell all your friends that you know how to open your hood.
