Put them on the wait list asap, and investigate what kind of attributes theschools are looking for. My younger boy's attending a private gifted kindergarten program, which is best suited for kids who are open-minded, independent, curious, sociable, creative. The reason he is in a private school is he did not get into a good public school. (we moved here quite late in the school year.)
OR move to a good public school district even though it means long commute.
You don't need to teach them anything formally now. Kids learn things through playing in the park, a walk in the neighborhood (observing the
plants, construction vehecles, etc..). Read to them, play with them, have fun with them whenever you have time. Build upon their curiosity, encourage them to explore, to experience new things. Building up their character is more importanct.
Do what you can, and leave the result to GOD. Don't worry about tomorrow.
