You only have ONE topic that is European have superior car and better than everyone else. That is not true. You need to set your vision not so narrow.
There are many European auto makers are struggling with their market share NOW. They may come up with some new technologies. But most of the time, they did not get the job done well and depend on others to make such technology really work and successful in the market.
Talking about innovation, you forget two most important innovations. One is Ford Model T. This innovation makes everyone can afford a car to drive. The other one is Japanese car. They broke into highly dominated auto market with unbeliveable price and reliability 20-30 years ago. This makes all others playing catchup to make their cars better. Everyone benefit from this. And these are much more important then LED light.
You claim you knew a lot of cars. But all of them are from magzines. My son likes to read auto magzines. On some topics, he probable knows better than you do. As a grownup man, have you ever really turned wrenches and get hands dirty? Working on cars makes better understanding on cars. When you open SOME Porsche's front engine covers, did you notice there are two belts, timing belt and balance belt? Do you know where Porsche learned balance belt from? - one of your most overlooked car.
Talking about diesel car. You probably drove a diesel car once. You almost want to say that European diesel will save the world. But who will give up large scale gasoline production and conver to diesel to feed those diesel car. And this will creat big shortage on diesel. Who will invest to a hybrid diesel technology that will have limited supply resources. Your admired MB? - not very smart. They are inventing problem. Plus, diesel engine is expensive. Hybrid battery is expensive. Diesel plus hybrid? Who will be able to afford it? What car will they put into? It is simple math. Does not even need a degree.
