your whole story to lawyer, if he/she think you are right, the lawyer will help you claim the cost. Base on the information you provide here, it is hard for yourself to claim, looks like your fault is more than 50% as Mikela point out.

Most lawyer offer "no claim, no lawyer fee", so give a try.
