I think in this case, first you need to consult an attorney. It is impossible to win the case without attorney.

With attorney, you still have a very hard and difficult case.

1. If your wife wants the child, in USA, it is almost 100% winning for her to have your child unless she is a criminal who is unlawful to supervise your child.

2. Even if your wife earns less than you or without any income or without any education, US law protests her and forces you to continuously support her after divorce. You can not use her income situation to win your case.

3. An 8 year old child can not judge anythign from right and wrong. So using your child to choose a parent is useless in this case.

4. Even if your wife has a plan to take the child back to China with her, you can not win to have your child staying in USA.

5. No matter whoever of you two asks for divorce, your wife is 100% successful in haing your child with her.

6. The only chance for you to win in this case is to persuate your wife to give up her right.
