it is hard to say. sometimes, the car just got too many miles just in a couple year because the owner drove too much. then she/he just wanted to get rid of it before resale value drops too low, so she/he might just trade in for another one. then if the dealer can not sell it in a while, then the car can end at auction. regardless what happened, the most of important things are the condition for the car (including current condition, accident history and maintanance history) and the price you pay for. as long as these two are fine, who cares what happened, right?
