I have seen so many posts asking for VIN check. Why need VIN check? It is used to check if the car was involved in an accident. Here, I am sharing my experience with you which could be more effective than just CarFax check. Some time, even the problem that Carfax failed to report you can easily find out.
It is not unusual that a car had an accident and was fixed (particularly, the body) professionally that usual people can hardly see the re-paint job. However, professional dealer can. Why? Let me first tell you my personal experience. One day I took my friend’s car to a dealership for sale. The car (2001 Accord) had been badly hit in the front hood by a deer. After an excellent bodywork by the body shop in a Honda dealer, by no way I could tell that the car was hit. The dealer looked at the car, opened all the doors, hood, and trunk and went over through the entire body. Guess what, he said the car was hit and pointed to me exactly where it was hit. I was shocked and asked him what is the trick to see this. He said, it is not seen by eyes, it is "seen" by touching. Then he showed me the trick. Here it is: use your finger to go along all the edges of the doors, hood, truck, etc. It the car does not have body work, all the edges should be smooth. Otherwise, the edge(s) is rough. I followed his instruction and quickly found the re-paint places by myself.
From then on, I have used this trick to examine all the used cars and did find problems, which really impressed people a lot. Hope this will you.
A trick better than VIN check
