In Texas, if you have any not too bad ticket in 12 month, you may take a defensive class to wave the ticket be recorded. So Your insurance will not increase. If this is the case for you, take the class, pay necessary fees, usually less than fine.

If this is not your case, go court, the change th epolice not showing up is $50. So you have at lease $50 chance to win. You may read some books to see how to defense the case witout an attorney. Ther are many such books in local libary. Even you loss the case, other than you spend some time, there are no other loss.
