8th grade SAT

My 8th grader plans to take SAT this summer, but I am a little confused.  It is said "the score will be removed at the end of the academic year you tested".  Does that mean if next year she needs to apply for any summer camp, she cannot use the SAT score anymore because it is removed?  

If it cannot be used, then there is no purpose for taking it at 8th grade, is it correct?  But if she takes SAT at 9th or 10th grade, everything will be in record.  Can anyone help me understand this better?  Thanks !
