很多人混淆平权与AA

五六十年代的civil rights movement主要争取的是平权

马丁 路德金说过：“I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character"

AA 起初是用来granting special consideration to historically excluded groups such as racial minorities or women。

亚裔受益绝大多数应归于平权，即使有些受益于AA也是在与白人同样qualified的情况下。

现在亚裔反对的是极端的AA - a desire to ensure public institutions, such as universities, hospitals, and police forces, are more representative of the populations they serve （WIKI)

极端的AA造成了reverse discrimination -- favoring one group over another based upon racial preference rather than achievement

其实最高法院前些年已经指出大学录取不能用specific quotas。

现在告Harvard的一方就是要证明Harvard在用specific quotas.  有研究表明， 亚裔人口比例翻了一番，结果三十多年来， Harvard的亚裔比例仍是一样， 百分之十几。
