Voter ID laws, promoted by GOP, are “now widely regarded as a means of voter suppression rather than of fraud prevention.”
That is the balance a court will decide when reviewing voter ID laws. The cruel point, again, is the ways GOP drafted the voter ID laws. They did a study of different races among voters and changed the voter ID law to target predominantly the Black voters in NC. NC Supreme Court thus determined that that the ways to draft the supposedly race-neutral voting ID law is discriminative.
